Wednesday, January 22nd through Friday, January 24th.

Full-Day Education and Training

You can choose from a one-day program focused on proper shade sail installation, a two-day schedule that adds design and sales training, or the full 2 ½ day program with 3D-rendering tips and techniques to wow customers. Our class sizes are small so we can have meaningful, hands-on experiences that are customized to meet your experience level.

Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2024; 8 am–4:00 pm

This training is designed for awning companies, contractors new to the trade, designers, and installers at any level who will benefit from our program of intensive, hands-on training by the people who wrote the book on shade sails. Day 1 is all about installation best practices. Focus will be on, but not limited to the following:

Shade Sail Theory 101 - what makes a perfect shade sail
How to install with your salespeople in mind
Proper Job site Prep and Planning
Post Installation
Bracket installation
How to choose the right hardware/tools for the job
Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Thursday, Jan. 23, 2024; 8 am–4:00 pm

This training is designed for anyone who will be designing and selling shade sails. Day 2 is all about sales and design best practices. Focus will be on, but not limited to the following:

Shade Sail Theory 101 - what makes a perfect shade sail and a happy customer
Common Customer Questions and Answers
Common Customer Pitfalls (design changes mid-project)
How to Design with your installers in mind

How to take measurements so your designs are precise

Friday, Jan. 24, 2024; 8 am–12:00 pm

This training is designed for salespeople/designers who want to up their presentation game. Our customers love our 3D renderings that show where the shade goes at different times of the day. This course includes some homework so that you can hit the ground running! Bring your laptop or tablet with your SketchUp account pre-loaded and logged in and we’ll get right to work designing a shade sail.

Import an address or an Image to lay the groundwork for your design.
Create the customer's home/building
Design the shade sail with proper curves, hypar twist, and more
Enhance your design with add-ons like picnic tables and other features to give your design a lived-in look
Add in shadows and demonstrate shade at different times of the day and the year.

Patrick Howe was born in Nebraska, met a girl named Amy in Arizona and married her in California where they are currently living the dream.

Director of Education

Robin DuBroy brings over 10 years of educational and training experience to Wholesale Shade. Being a teacher at heart, Robin wrote the book on the shade sail industry and enjoys supporting the trade through training and education as part of the Shade Sail University system.
